Abandoned: Mid 2000s
Location: South East Pennsylvania
Status: Still Abandoned
Reason: Financial Issues
Built in 1800s, this house sits along a now busy road. The house has a lot of history from the Family that use to live there. The Family who lived in this house were very wealthy and also owned another house not far up the road that was recently demolished. The woman who lived here during the late 1800s to early 1900s was the illustrator of Ladies Home Journal Magazine. Her cousin was also the financier for the Civil War. This house use to have gardens and other buildings behind it making it a beautiful place. However, when the bypass was constructed, a lot of the land this house resided on was taken away destroying the property. So your asking why does it look like this today, well issues with family caused them to move away. The last owner of this property moved to another state to be near his son. He put this place up as a rental property but thing went down hill from there. The house did go up for sale but with the highway right next to it, no one was interested. The current owner of the home still has the deed of the house on sheepskin paper. That how old it is. Special Thanks to Barb D for sharing all this great information with me.
